On September 15, 2010, Blount Boats was awarded a contract to perform drydock and repairs to the USCGC SAILFISH, a 87-Foot Patrol Boat stationed in Sandy Hook, New Jersey. The SAILFISH arrived in Warren, RI on September 27 for a 42 day performance period. The scope of the acquisition was for overhauling, cleaning and repairing of various items aboard the vessel. The work included renewing the wet deck and preserving all freeboard surfaces. Modification and preservation of the forepeak. Realignment of the main engine/reduction gear. Removal, inspection and reinstallation of the propellers, propeller shafts, and rudder assemblies. Removal and installation of all sea valves and blast, prime and paint exterior hull from main deck down to keel.
The repair work to the SAILFISH was completed in 42 days on November 8th and marks the first US Coast Guard repair for the Blount Boats shipyard.
